“LINE”
Most of our rugs are 570,000 knots/sqm; 368KPSI (230 Line)
as they are the most practical and durable choice. "Line" is the term which is the most straight forward way to tell the quality of a china silk rug. Larger in Line number means there are more knots in a set area unit. In other words, for a 300 Line silk rug, the pattern on it should have less pixel look than a 230 Line silk rug; further more 300 Line should be more lustre than a 230 Line one.
Larger the “LINE” number is, stronger and finer, or in other words, higher in quality the silk fiber is, so as to accomplish the work of more knots be done in one area unit.

The 2 basic factors for a quality silk rug is ONE quality of silk and TWO the knotting technique. Then of course the pattern design.
With a conservative estimate, over 90% of china silk rugs (even the real antique ones found in Persian area) are manufactured in China, as China has the longest history in silk industry and still the largest country in terms of silk production in the world. Larger the “LINE” number is, the better and silkier a rug is.
However it would be a wrong perception for "Higher Lines means better silk rug": With above interpretation for "Line" in head, a 300 Line rug will tend to be a thin and light weight "cloth" instead of fulfilling a "rug" purpose, comparing to a 230 Line rug. A 500 or even higher Line "rug" would be more appropriate to be described as a rare "art-work" and mostly will be in the size of a masterpiece painting , so as the price.
